SECOND DAY OF THE MEETING OF THE PARTNER SCHOOL TEACHERS AT KOLYMVARI IN GREECE - 8 SEPTEMBER 2018

Saturday began with a visit to the old town of Chania. Our first stop was the open market at Koum Kapi. There we saw and observed a lot of local products of Crete like vegetables, fruits, dairy foods, honey which are relevant with our next section of our project (health - nutrition). After that we traveled to the center of Chania and saw the first high school in the city, the first bank.

Our next stop was the Covered Old Market of Chania - Agora of Chania (a cross-shaped building of Chania) to have a look to the Cretan Herbs and Spices (relevant to our first section of our project). There we saw some of the most popular Cretan Herbs that people prefer: Origanum dictamnus, Sideritis syriaca, Salvia fruticosa and Origanum microphyllum. Also we saw some of the most popular Cretan Spices which are: Oregano, Thyme, Basil and Spearmint.

We also traveled to the streets of the old city, to the walls, to the monuments of the Byzantine period, to the Venetian period and the period of Ottoman rule, to the Jewish and Turkish quarter, to the Turkish minarets and of course to dine coffee in the famous Venetian harbor with the famous lighthouse.

We ate at an historic restaurant in the Jewish Quarter named “Semiramis”. There the partner teachers had the chance to taste some traditional dishes. In the afternoon we went for a walk at Agioi Apostoloi and we had a swim in the blue waters of Aegean Sea. At night we had a drink at Platanias to a very famous place called “Rock House”.
